When you look at any musical instrument as a beginner and you see the number of possible chords there are, it can be daunting. In fact when you realise there are thousands of chords it can be enough to put you off, and indeed many people have given up before they have started because they think it is far too difficult.

Tip –

Some students find playing G7 instead of G is easier to begin with. In most songs you can substitute G with G7 so if you find G7 easier to start with that’s fine.

Now that you have learnt C, F & G, you can start adding new chords to your repertoire. Each new chord you learn will allow you to play many more songs.

Don’t rush to learn lots of chords, play slowly to start with and concentrate on playing the chords cleanly and clearly. Take your time and adjust your finger position as necessary to stop any  string buzz.
